What is the AVG 9 Rescue CD?
The AVG 9 Rescue CD is a bootable rescue CD, whose tools help to recover computers that aren't able to boot anymore or that are so heavily infected that normal working isn't possible anymore and also to scan vor viruses with AVG.
The AVG 9 Rescue CD is based on a Linux Live operating system, that can be started from CD or USB-media, during boot all available partitions of the computer will be mounted. After startup a simple graphical user interface allows you to start basic AVG functions like downloading updates, scan harddrives or access the AVG virus quaratine of an internal harddrive.
Furthermore there are a couple of preinstalled additional tools that help it experts with system analysis and recovery. Memtest86+ e.g. can be started right from the boot menu. Besides the standard Linux tools you'll also find a Windows registry editor, NTFSprogs, TestDisk, Midnight Commander, PhotoRec, Links-Browser und the OpenSSH ssh daemon.
